Boomer Blog Changes Name

Boomers - Are you still out there?

Boomers, seventy-eight million strong, are being noticed more every day. In these interesting economic times, most Boomers are probably experiencing some real pain in the financial arena. Some have told me they refuse to even open the retirement fund statements received each month. Hopefully...and luckily, Boomers still have plenty of time to make some strong recoveries to their portfolios. Hang in there!!

Don't Be Stupid......

I had the opportunity to read a rather humorous article written by a plastic surgeon in Billings, Montana. Dr. Alan Muskett(a boomer who seems to be enjoying it) was suggesting that boomers be smart....rather, don't be stupid. If you get a motorcycle, get the training to handle it...so you don't injure or kill yourself. Stay out of the sun and keep melanoma away. Keep the weight off and prevent numerous health problems. Stop smoking and live.(The British had a study that showed smokers spent less on health care costs than non-smokers. Reason: the smokers had died.) Pick your parents wisely...so much is hereditary. Too late? Pay attention to what medical problems run in your family...and practice prevention. Boomers: do your part to stay forever young!

Uncertain Times

This afternoon I received word via my cell phone that the stock market had closed 500 points up for the day. Yesterday, it was down over 400 points. My 401K has lost at least a third of its value in the last few months. The powers that be in Washington are changing their minds daily on how to spend the 700 billion bailout money. Uncertain times are here and will probably stay for a while. Retirement for Boomers seems shakey at the moment. Patience is needed, and a little calm as this financial mess works its way toward something more solid. Greed by too many who dropped their ethics for more quick money got us into this mess. It really is too bad that regulations are needed to keep the unethical in line. Those on main street end up suffering the most. Hang in there!

Seeking Opportunity...

As we look at opportunities ahead of us, we sometimes get bogged down with a lack of focus. Some retirees think life is over while others believe life is just beginning. Attitude, faith and perspective come into play here. What do you see? Several people looking at the same things can see them very differently. How do you see opportunityisnowhere? Do you see it as opportunity/is/no/where? ....or do you see it as opportunity/is/now/here? Adjust your thinking and see the now of opportunity. GO FOR IT!
